Female Xiangsheng Master Reshapes Taiwan Comedy Scene (#葉怡均) ǀ In Her Shoes S2

“Xiangsheng,” or crosstalk, is a traditional form of comedy that has taken root in Taiwan. While male comedians dominate the comedy scene, Yeh Yi-chun (葉怡均) explores the craft and possibilities of xiangsheng as a female performer. From her college days, she has devoted herself to preserving the art, and later initiated youth programs to inspire the next generation of comedians. To gain deeper insights into the role of women in performing arts, Yeh Yi-chun earned a doctorate with a thesis on female xiangsheng. Learn more about how this comedy master portrays the modern world with an ancient craft. “In Her Shoes” introduces leading women in Taiwanese society, spanning fields from fashion and art to business and sports. Why the World Is Paying Attention to Taitung’s Slow Food Festival (#郭麗津) | Sustainable Footprints

What does food sustainability really look like on the ground? In Taiwan’s southeastern county of Taitung, the Slow Food Festival offers a powerful answer: one rooted in local food culture, community knowledge, and everyday practice. In this episode of Sustainable Footprints, host Pai Pei-hua sits down with Kuo Li-chin, founder of the Taitung Slow Food Festival, to explore how food can become a tool for sustainability, cultural preservation, and global connection. From Indigenous food traditions and zero-waste practices to wild harvesting and international exchange, the festival demonstrates how local action can travel far beyond its place of origin, reaching the global Slow Food stage at events like Terra Madre in Italy. This is a story about food, people, and the quiet power of choosing differently, one meal at a time.
