it never ends: hanfu pt.4 Consort Lanyue: Mother of the late Crown Prince who was killed by the Emperor. She watched her firstborn die at her husband’s hands all because the Emperor wanted his own son’s betrothed. Growing despondent, she retreats into her palace walls. Consort Li: Former betrothed to the late Crown Prince. In a desperate attempt to stay together, she pre-consummated her marriage with the prince, unwittingly invoking the wrath of the Emperor. Initially planning to take her life alongside her husband, she is forced to enter the Emperor’s harem to protect her and the prince’s unborn son by passing him off as the Emperor’s own. Once proud and defiant, she lives a lonely life within palace walls. Redesign- Noble Consort Chuhua: Prior to her suicide, she was the Emperor’s most favored consort. Her first miscarriage left her paranoid and increasingly protective of her son, going to the point of suicide in framing the jealous Empress. She dies young and the Empress gouges out her golden eyes in retribution, post-mortem. The young Consort Li, then regarded as Princess Liyang, the willful and bright royal of a neighboring kingdom. Princess Wan: Eldest daughter of the Empress and Emperor. Her mother’s loss in favor alongside her own spoiled and explosive nature renders her one of the most unfavored out of the Emperor’s children. She is married off to the older king of an ally kingdom against her will, causing her to lose all love she once held for her father. The childhood scar on her neck gives her sadistic husband the excuse to mistreat her, even going as far as to scar her face and body. She returns to her kingdom not as an empress, but as a decorated plaything. She counts down the days till the men in her life perish.
