The closer we look, the less certain the whole picture becomes.

I often feel this when painting a face. A small shift in an edge, a temperature change in the skin, or a shadow beside the cheek can completely change what we think we are seeing.

Maybe people are not so different.

We often think we understand someone from the part of them we can see. But a person can hold several emotions, several truths, even several versions of themselves at the same time.

Perhaps understanding someone begins when we stop trying to define them too quickly.

I never want every part of a portrait to feel too perfect.

While painting the ear, I let the brush turn with the form, leaving some strokes visible and allowing unexpected colors to remain. Pink, green, ochre, violet. Together they slowly found their place.

Maybe people are like that too.

We spend so much time trying to become a better version of ourselves that we forget we are already living a life that belongs to us.

Not everything needs to be corrected.
Not every imperfect part needs to disappear.

Sometimes what we need most is simply to say,

You’ve done enough.
You’re doing fine.

A flower does not need to bloom like the one beside it.

It only needs its own season.

Did you know?

The best state for painting
is not control.
It is freedom.

Before every brushstroke,
I never know
what it will become.

I simply trust
that the next stroke
will lead me somewhere
even better.

I’ve always felt that every brushstroke in a portrait carries a different emotion. As the painting grows, it feels as though the story keeps unfolding.

I added highlights to the cupid’s bow, extending them toward the philtrum to refine the structure of the lips.

During the final stage, it is completely normal and necessary to paint over much of the earlier layers. Do not worry. Every color applied before has served as an essential foundation, allowing the final highlights to appear richer, more luminous, and more structurally stable through the depth of the layered paint.

There comes a moment in painting when control begins to loosen. The brush starts moving before thought fully catches up.

While painting the nose, warm reds collided with cool greens and muted violets. The structure slowly emerged through instinct, not calculation.

At first, everything feels fragmented.
But sometimes that is how both art and life slowly come together.

More people are learning how to be alone.
Not because the world is colder, but because freedom quietly appears when we stop fearing solitude.

And somewhere in the middle of the process, you realize something unexpected.

You are already stronger than you thought.
